NUMECA FINE Turbo 17.1 FINE™/Turbo The simulation of multi-stage compressors and turbines represents a remarkable challenge for any CFD solver, due to the complexity of the physical phenomena produced by the motion between rotor and stator blades. For years, designers have been relying on steady calculations based on mixing-plane methods: a time-averaged flow field is computed in each blade passage, while the connection between adjacent rows is established by transferring the pitch-wise averaged flow from one row to the next one.
